In Mumbai, mangroves are found along both the east and west coast - in areas like Vikhroli, Gorai, Bandra, Mahim, and Sewri, with a few having luxuriant mangroves.
The wetlands of mangroves also act as an important stopover for over hundred species of migratory birds including magnificent flamingos, gulls, terns, avocets and curlews.
